The Junction Tool (JNC) is an application operating on the related layer of the ICD Tool’s database. It is a form-oriented tool (as the ICD Tool) for construction of database for use by the Junction Framework (S/W package that handle all incoming and outgoing messages of an application). Contrary to the ICD Tool in which the definitions are 'static', JNC adds the relations among data elements, and the dynamic behavior characteristics for the messages. JNC Database and Framework are intended for distributed systems where messaging is the main inter-system communication.
The JNC has the provisions for the following:
-
Definition of Calculation functions for data elements
-
Data entry for dynamic behavior characteristics (attributes) for buses, messages, and data pipes
-
Assignment of Calculation functions to data elements
-
Setting correlation between commanded data element and reported data element for use in a 'Guarantee Delivery' process.
-
Specific files generation format for the Junction Framework
-
Synchronization with other ICD data
-
Generation of reports
